How is a CS2 (CS:GO) skin's value determined?

Knowing how much your inventory is worth is the first step to selling well. A skin's price isn't random: it depends on several factors every seller should know. The most important are wear level, rarity and special features such as StatTrak™.

Wear level (float)

Every skin has a wear value, known as float, that defines its look and directly affects its price. CS2 has five conditions, from best to worst: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred. As a rule, a Factory New skin is worth more than a Battle-Scarred one because it looks cleaner, but there are exceptions: on certain patterns a high float can be even more sought-after, and the price gap between conditions isn't always proportional.

Rarity

The higher the rarity, the higher the price usually goes.

StatTrak™ and other particularities

StatTrak™ skins, which carry a counter with your kill count, are usually worth more than their regular versions. The same goes for highly sought-after patterns like Doppler, Fade, Case Hardened or Marble Fade, and for rare applied stickers, which can push a weapon's value well above its base price. That's why, before selling, it pays to look closely at these details so you don't undersell a valuable piece.
